To The Republic / Drown // E.P. Cover

17Aug09

This project was very different to the majority of others I have done… and I loved every minute of creating this one. Nothing better than stepping outside the box and your comfort zone, a little nerves will hit at first but once you get stuck in and it starts coming together it’s all fine :]

The band, To The Republic wanted there E.P. cover to be along the lines of the dead sea’s salt riddled beaches. They passed over a copy of there track ‘Drown’ and it felt like the cover needed to slow a little depression/sadness as the song is slow and meaningful. To do this I used a deep orange sunset along with many textures to create a worn/torn look along with excessive sharpening to bring the details out a lot more than usual. For the back I decided to move away from the shore, like drifting away into the rough seas, again with the similar sunset.

The title is custom made, by editing a font. The text is very minimal, i didn’t want it to stand out too much.

Look out for To The Republic, if you like rock, indie etc then you’ll probably like these guys. http://www.myspace.com/totherepublicmusic | http://www.twitter.com/2therepublic | http://www.totherepublicmusic.com
